Kindergarten Registration
Process
2008-2009 School Year
The following dates have been established for
screenings for all children who will be age appropriate for beginning school in
August 2008. Children must be 5 before
September 30, 2008.
April 4 April 11 May 1 May 2 August 6
Kindergarten Orientation is set for May 15 at 10:30 a.m. at
Hancock Elementary School. Please bring
your child and meet the kindergarten teachers, visit kindergarten classrooms,
and meet Mrs. Marta Stapleton, school principal.

Registration Process
1. Please schedule health screenings with the
Hancock County Health Department for one of the screening dates listed
above. If you would like to have your
child’s school physical and shots completed with their pediatrician feel free
to do so at any time. Please be sure you
get a copy of the Tennessee School Immunization Certificate and continue the
registration process by completing step #2.
1. After scheduling the health screening,
please call Jennifer Trent @733-8094 to schedule the academic screening which
will be held at the special education trailer behind the school clinic. Both screenings need to be completed on the
same day unless you are using your personal doctor for the health
screening. When attending screenings
please bring the following items: 1.)
your child; 2.) your child’s birth certificate; 3.) your child’s social
security card; 4.) your child’s shot record; and 5.) any custody papers if
applicable showing who has legal custody.
If you took your child to their pediatrician please bring the copy of
the Tennessee School Immunization Certificate.
These documents are required by state law to be placed in your child’s
permanent record. They cannot enter
kindergarten without them on file.
2. Every student beginning kindergarten should
be completely potty trained.
