Parents please remember
your child must demonstrate the following task independently at school. Help your child study at home with
assignments but do not complete assignments for them.
ü Identify basic colors: red, yellow, blue, orange, green, purple,
black, white, brown, and pink
ü Identify and reproduce (draw) basic
shapes: circle, line, rectangle,
semi-circle, triangle, star, diamond, square, heart, and oval
ü Recognize and write first and last name
ü Identify same and different
ü Identify left and right
ü Identify positions: up/down, top/middle/bottom, in front of/between/behind,
before/after, beginning/middle/end
ü Identify, count, and write numerals 0 – 30
in and out of sequence
ü Count to 100 orally by ones and tens
ü Count backwards from 10 – 1
ü State address, birthday, phone number, and
lunch number
ü Identify fractions to the half
ü Recognize and identify ordinal numbers to
the tenth place: first, second, third,
fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth
ü Tell time to the hour
ü Measure length by units
ü Recognize the use of a thermometer to
measure temperature
ü Recognize the use of a calendar to tell
time
ü Identify the days of the week, months of a
year
ü Identify, give the value, and count
money: penny, nickel, dime, quarter, and
dollar
ü Construct and read information on a
picture/bar graph
ü Identify, copy, and construct a pattern
ü Sort objects by color, size, shape, and
kind
ü Add and subtract to ten (10) with and
without manipulatives
ü Identify and write every letter of the
alphabet in upper case (capital) and lower case forms in and out of sequence

ü Sequence the alphabet from Aa to Zz
ü Identify beginning consonant sounds
ü Identify ending consonant sounds
ü Identify middle vowel sounds (with teacher
assistance)
ü Blend letters to create words
ü Retell and sequence events in a story
ü Recall main idea and details of a story
ü Tie shoes, button/snap/zip clothing
ü Demonstrate the ability to work in a group
setting and independently in a timely fashion
Report cards are
submitted monthly to parents to be signed and returned to the school. You may schedule a conference at any time
with the teacher to discuss your child’s academic progress and behavior. We hope that your child has a successful and
enjoyable Kindergarten experience.
