Dear Parent,
Greetings from Hancock County High and Middle Schools,
As you may or may not know, the State of Tennessee has won $500
million dollars to implement the states new “Race to the Top Initiative”. As
part of this program, Tennessee
has revamped their standards and will be teaching a new and more Challenging
curriculum. Most educators across the state expect that Tennessee’s students will test lower during
the first few years of the program. These new standards’ are much more in line
with the nation and will challenge most students much more. In this time of
change, our students and educators must try harder to teach and learn.
State-wide expectations are high and the eyes of the nation will be on our
states students. Our school will be aligning our goals and objectives with
these new standards and will be teaching with new levels of expectations and
will challenging all teachers to work harder and students to achieve more. Our
country has evolved into one of national connectivity and basically all students,
nation-wide will be competing against each other for scholarships and jobs, we
must step up to the plate and try harder. As the leader and representative of
our school, I challenge you as parents to get involved with your child’s education,
consult with their teachers and follow-up with their daily work, and expect
more and we’ll get more. I sincerely promise you that I will insure that all of
us at this campus will be working harder to insure that your child gets the
education he/she deserves. It will not be easy, and it will take all our
efforts, but it can and will be done.
